A workshop about the work of agencies and how to deal with them.
The cooperation between artists and agents offers a wide range of possibilities, from „happy“ to „complicated“ to „terrible“ for both sides.
In order for it to be successful, there are a few things to keep in mind.
krea[K]tiv member Hedwig Fassbender, herself an employee in an artists‘ agency, and Sebastian Seifert, head of the agency of the same name, talk about their work and are happy to answer your questions.

Hedwig Fassbender

The German mezzo-soprano studied „Schulmusik“, piano, German language and literature, and philosophy before studying singing with Ernst Haefliger at the Musikhochschule in Munich. After her permanent engagements in Freiburg and Basel, she was a freelance singer for many years, interpreting roles like Herodias, Kostelnicka, Isolde, Kundry, Sieglinde, etc. at many German, Italian and French theatres. She sang the alto part of all major oratorios and gave more than a hundred Lieder recitals. Hedwig Fassbender is a sought-after vocal teacher and gives master classes for opera studios in Paris, Moscow, Zurich, Basel, Frankfurt, and Warsaw. From 1999-2017 she taught at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule, where she trained many promising young singers. Furthermore, Hedwig Fassbender is a certified systemic coach and helps artists in challenging life situations. She has been an artistic collaborator at Agence Massis Opéra since 2018.

 

Sebastian Seifert

grew up in a family of musicians. In addition to instrumental training on the flute and violin, he received vocal training as a member of the Boys‘ Choir Berlin and performed as the 3rd boy in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, among other roles. From 1996 to 1999 Sebastian Seifert was a „young student“ at the Julius-Stern Institute Berlin (University of the Arts). He won prizes at „Jugend musiziert“ (singing and instrumental) and at the Lions Music Prize (instrumental) and was a member of the Berlin State Youth Orchestra. After graduating from high school in 2001, he completed his military service with the Bundeswehr Music Corps in Siegburg. From 2002 to 2007 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and during this time he was an orchestra member of the Festival junger Künstler Bayreuth, the RIAS Youth Orchestra and the Zermatt Music Festival & Academy. After graduating in 2007 in Hamburg, he started working in the Seifert Artist Agency and became its director in 2012.
